Got my iPhone!!!!

Since Ani-Pock makes soooooo much money ( I wish xD ) I decided to plop down for an iPhone! I'm renaming it the Ani-Phone... well cuz you can browse Ani-Pock on it! (Though flash features don't work D:).

Chinese Backstreet Boys or Back Dorm Boys

Two Chinese kids hop in front of a webcam and do their rendition of the Backstreet Boys. Not sure exactly why they'd want to put that on film, but it seems to have worked for them, considering it got them a 5 year contract with a commercial company. As many fans do not know the real names of the Back Dorm Boys, Wei Wei is often called simply "the big one" and Huang Yi Xin "the small one". In most videos, Wei Wei is seated on the viewer's right and Huang Yi Xin on the left. Huang Yi Xin has a cast on his left arm in some early videos from when he got hurt playing basketball.

I reccomend watching every video! you won't regret it! They are mostly equal in hilarity. I was nearly in tears by the end of them lol.

Transformers

It is now 2:45 A.M. and I have recently returned home from one of the best experiences of my life. That's right, almost a week early I have seen Transformers the movie. I have no other recourse but to activate my special ability.

Well then, I have to say it right out. I hate shia soooo much. DOn't ask me why but I hate almost all movies with him in it. Now here's the kicker, If I had to choose, I'd buy transformers before I bought Pirates 3. It's that amazing. I have no other recourse but to love it. The human depth was great though, even some good guys were *annoying*(edited word). There were a few loose ends and I'll admit, in some battle scenes I couldn't tell who was who. But the sheer volume of battle and special effects were breathtaking. I give this film my highest rating so far, 8.6 out of 10.

Georgia Brown, a young British girl with golden locks, has an IQ of 152 — which, proportionate to her age, puts her in the same intellectual league as the famed physicist Steven Hawkings.

Brown started crawling at five months; she was walking at nine months. At 14 months she was dressing herself, and just 18 months after her birth she was having full conversations.

What else can the toddler do? How about using the word "arrogant" in conversation?

After an outing to see Beauty and the Beast at a theater, she told her parents: "I didn't like Gaston (the villain). He was mean and arrogant."

Random News: Owl repeatedly attacks old man

AN old man in Hunan Province said an owl has taken a special liking to attacking his head.

When he leaves home, the owl often starts pecking his head, forcing the man to wear a special hat, Changsha Evening News reported today.

"The owl began attacking me in March, when I was working in an orange grove," the 79-year-old Yang Decai said.

"I don't remember how many times it has attacked me, but the day before yesterday, it pecked me 20 times," Yang said. "It doesn't hurt but it is really annoying."

Yang wears a hat with nails sticking out of a piece of wood to protect himself from the owl.

The owl sometimes cooperates with another owl – one hooting in a tree and the other swooping in to attack, the report said.

Yang's wife has also been attacked several times. Other family members have been left alone, the report said.

Yang said the owl may be seeking revenge because he removed a nest with two baby owls from his roof.

"They must be the baby owls' parents and want revenge," Yang said.

However, an expert from the forestry bureau in Huaihua City, Hunan, said the owl's strange behavior may be because it feels threatened or that Yang carries a special scent.

The expert suggested Yang ask local forestry officials to catch the owl or scare it away.

Pocky back from Europe!

I've concluded my Netherlands+Belgium+Switzerland trip and am back in Ani-Pock San Diego Head Quarters! I'm too tired to post up pictures just yet, but here is a teaser video clip for you from Switzerland!


A few cows blocked us on our hike of the North Face Trail in Switzerland. There is a sense of urgency to cross them because one has just started to urinate, and the path is covered in their poop! Recorded with PockyVision! (super wide-angle)

What we Know About Pocky
"The King of Ani-Pock"

Pocky is the founder of what we know today to be Ani-Pock, but it has gone through many make-overs since the beginning. Pocky, even though quite busy in his own life, is very dedicated to his site. He strongly advocates a fun site, where people can come and enjoy themselves with the chat box, draw boards, cultural variations, and so much more. He even gives us our own email, how cool is that huh? I think Ani-pock has evolved into something more than Pocky could have imagined in the beginning. He's actually created a community here that I've never experienced on other forums or anime sites, (of the very few I've been to). He's always trying to make this site better and sometimes his efforts get overlooked, or underappreciated.

Pocky is the type of guy to please everyone. He's really just so sweet and nice, I'd go as far to say that he is the counter-gender to Purly. XD So, Purly if you were a guy, you'd be Pocky. *laughs* Anyway, Pocky of course loves the pocky snack, with chocolate being one of his top if not *the top* favorite. He is 20 years old and lives in California, USA. His real name is Roland. Just recently Pocky has started to reach out to meet some of his pocker friends. He just met Purly, and I heard he'll be getting together with Jent-Sama one of these days soon. I think we all want a Pocky visiting.

~Ani-Pock is not a free site, Pocky actually pays money to keep this site running.
~His favorite anime is Neon Genesis Evangelion, but he also favours Death Note as well as some other drama series i.e. Air.

What we know about PunkChick:
"Most Frolicsome of Ani-Pock"

PunkChick, aka Christine, is 17 years old and lives in North Carolina, she's also predominantly Mexican. She is one of the "older members" back when Ani-Pock wasn't even known as Ani-Pock, but she took a long leave. Now she's back! PunkChick not so much punk anymore, always has an opinion and she's not afraid to state it. She is loyal to her friends, but at the same time she manifests neutrality. She can be spotted frequently and is really fun to be around. She always has me in laughing stitches.

PunkChick loves ducks! You can hear her singing "Rubber Ducky" on the Anipock message center. She also loves to ride her bike, and she's a huge "Making April" fan. PC also loves disney movies which follows into her talents.

Hiii! Well, I am starting something new, normally I do AMV posts, but I thought that I would start a new genre on here of spotlighting Ani-Pockers. So, I'm going to start with Purly.

What we know about Purly:

"Sweetheart of Ani-Pock" ^^

Purly is infamous for her generous and nuturing character. She's truly

sweet and kind and always a willing and valuable friend. Whenever she is around she brings a calm peace and lots of love! She's very loveable and will defend anyone. So if you don't know her yet, you should definitely say hi!!!

Purly is 20 years old, and lives in the Netherlands. She's into making dolls, drawing, and doing graphics on the computer. She is a fan of Lolita, which is a type of Japanese fashion, I think of frilly dresses and ribbons. I think she even likes to make doll clothes, not sure on

that one. And I know she loves capsule toys!!

One of the topics in the G8 meeting in Germany, is Japan's new proposal of the "Kyoto Accord". This new proposal will extend the deadline to 2050 in hopes of attracting more countries...

Out of curiosity, considering many "Pockers" are from the United States of America, and I know programs seem to vary from state to state... How many people recycle or I should say have a recycling program available?
Even though Japan adheres to the same system, some areas in Japan go further in the separation... during my time in Hokkaido, I think there was 7 ways of separating the garbage. I've actually been impressed with Toronto's new additions with the separation of garbage. It's a shame that these programs aren't nation wide.

Conserving water, energy and recycling are just a few things we can do for our planet.
It doesn't stop there... besides keeping things clean in your communities, you can help keep things clean in ours... watch the "potty mouth" or typing. (o^-')b

Some Greek Mythology

Wellll. I have been reading up on some greek mythology. There are a few characters that seem to always be left out in the popularity of Zeus and Heracles. Not that those aren't interesting characters. Its just, everyone knows all about them.
Atlas is a scion of the Titans, the Greek race of giants, and the son of Iapetus and the nymph Clymene. He is the father of the Hesperides,the Hyades and the Pleiades. In the revolt of the Titans against the gods of the Olympic, Atlas stormed the heavens and Zeus punished him for this deed by condemning him to forever bear the heavens upon his shoulders. Hence his name, which means "bearer" or "endurer". When Atlas refused to give shelter to Perseus, the latter changed Atlas into stone, using Medusa's severed head. On the place where Atlas stood, now lies Mount Atlas (in Africa). In art, Atlas is usually depicted as a man bearing a globe.
Before he ascended the throne of Crete, Minos struggled with his brothers for the right to rule. Minos prayed to Poseidon to send him a snow-white bull, as a sign of approval by the gods for his reign. He promised to sacrifice the bull as an offering, and as a symbol of subservience. A beautiful white bull rose from the sea, but when Minos saw it, he coveted it for himself. He assumed that Poseidon would not mind, so he kept it and sacrificed the best specimen from his herd instead. When Poseidon learned about the deceit, he made Pasipha, Minos' wife, fall madly in love with the bull. Their lovemaking, resulted in the Minotaur ( remember that big ugly bull thing that runs around King Mino's Labrynth in Hercules, the disney channel cartoon..yeah its that) The creature had the head and tail of a bull on the body of a man. It caused such terror and destruction on Crete that Daedalus was summoned again, but this time by Minos himself. He ordered the architect to build a gigantic, intricate labyrinth from which escape would be impossible. The Minotaur was captured and locked in the labyrinth. Every year for nine years, seven youths and maidens came as tribute from Athens. These young people were also locked in the labyrinth for the Minotaur to feast upon.
Persephone is the goddess of the underworld in Greek mythology. She is the daughter of Zeus and Demeter (goddess of the harvest). Persephone was such a beautiful young woman that everyone loved her, even Hades wanted her for himself. One day, when she was collecting flowers on the plain of Enna, the earth suddenly opened and Hades rose up from the gap and abducted her. None but Zeus, and the all-seeing sun, Helios, had noticed it.
Broken-hearted, Demeter wandered the earth, looking for her daughter until Helios revealed what had happened. Demeter was so angry that she withdrew herself in loneliness, and the earth ceased to be fertile. Knowing this could not continue much longer, Zeus sent Hermes down to Hades to make him release Persephone. Hades grudgingly agreed, but before she went back he gave Persephone a pomegranate. When she later ate of it, it bound her to underworld forever and she had to stay there one-third of the year. The other months she stayed with her mother. When Persephone was in Hades, Demeter refused to let anything grow and winter began.
Pan is a son of the god hermes . He was depicted as a satyr with a reed pipe, a shepherd's crook and a branch of pine or crown of pine needles. He had a wrinkled face with a very prominent chin. On his forehead were two horns and his body was hairy. He was a swift runner and climbed rocks with ease. Pan belonged to the retinue of Dionysus. (so basically, think of Phil, from the movie Hercules lol{Pan was also a god of fertility, unbridled male sexuality and carnal desire. He chased nymphs through the forests and mountains in the shape of a goat. Pan was not well liked by the other Greek gods. })
